Elder Dr. Regina Gray Johnson is a native of Newport
News, Virginia, and
the public school system.Elder Johnson
completed a dissertation entitled “Living with Loss in the Church-A Bereavement
Support Group”, as part of requirements for a doctoral degree in Christian
Counseling at Norfolk Theological Seminary and College.
She is also a graduate of Christopher Newport (Bachelor of Arts) and NorfolkStateUniversities (Master of Arts) majoring both in Social Work.She is a current member of the National Association of Social Workers and past member of the Virginia chapter of the American Mental Health Counselors Association. Elder
Johnson was licensed at the Antioch Baptist Church-Hampton, Virginia
and ordained by the Peninsula’s Baptist
Pastor’s Council. Elder Johnson has also
been active in the community as a volunteer Adjunct Chaplain at the SentaraCare-PlexHospital
and a volunteer hotline worker with the Transitions Family Violence
Services. She is currently a member of
the Empowered Believers Christian Learning Center, Inc., under the leadership
of Pastor John A. Young. She brings
years of experience as a clinician and facilitator. She is married to Minister
Dr. Joseph S. Johnson and they are the proud parents of two grown
children. Elder Johnson believes in the
power of prayer and the theme of her life is found in Matthew 21:22, which
reads, “and all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye
shall receive!”
